While some may say I’m blaming the wrong person for Neven Subotic’s (and Vedad Ibisevic, and Giuseppi Rossi, and Edgar Castillo, and others) decision to play for a national team other than the US, responsibility for the failure to locate, recruit and keep players for the USMNT. It is his organization, his appointments, his hires and his vision.
The buck stops with Sunil.

Yesterday, Stoke City succumbed to West Ham 2-1, but to add insult to injury, Stoke’s Ricardo Fuller earned a red card after he slapped his own captain, Andy Griffin. Even though it was Boxing Day on Friday, it does not appear Fuller will get a reprieve. He faces an automatic suspension of 3 games and a team fine of £20,000.
Andy Griffin took it all in stride and displayed his leadership skills as he pointed Fuller in the direction of the lockerroom on the away trip to Upton Park.
Update: new video!
After the jump, some classic footage of other teammates fighting, namely Kieron Dyer and Lee Bowyer, who both earned their squad a red card [Ed. Note: and backup video in case this one gets yanked again]. Also, check out this Daily Mirror Top 10 of Teammates Fighting.

Manchester City is destroying Hull City 4-0 at halftime. Felipe Caicedo (who?) has a brace as well as Robinho. There are two things that stick out from this match so far. The first is the video below of Robinho’s goal celebration after his first goal. I don’t know how to describe it, but it seems to be a mix of modern interpretive dance, break dancing, and samba with a porno video end flourish. See for yourself below.
The second is Hull City manager Phil Brown’s blow dryer treatment of his team at halftime. ON THE FIELD. He sat the boys down like a bunch of teenagers and let them have it in front of all the fans. It really looked like a high school halftime where the team just went off to the side. Hopefully video coming soon.

It’s feeding time.
Ronaldo, the fat and original one.
It wasn’t a
blown wheel rather a blown gasket that sidelined Ronaldo for the last 9 months. He’s just
had a baby, which might explain the weight gain.
Ronaldo, the other fat one with a horsemouth.
Ronaldo, the prancing fairy one.
Still hated. Still prancing. Still diving. Still wearing
hot pants.

The title of this post may have a double meaning…or it may not. Anyway, Sylvie Van der Vaart, wife of Rafael, splashing around in the ocean.
Happy Holidays!

Well, we made it. One year. 365 days. Now it’s time for us to verbally fellate ourselves, pull our puds and generally pat ourselves on our backs. Ouch, my elbow.
Anyway, we couldn’t waste our employer’s time and money without the help of our readers, who give us far too much enjoyment in the comments section. In the next year, we will continue our mission to find the most humorous, most sordid, and generally awesomest soccer/footie/football/calcio stories that occur each day. It is our goal to be funnier, better looking and more popular in year two. Although, I’m not sure how I, personally, can be funnier or more handsome.
Before we enter our next year of existence, I am going to give you my five favorite posts of the year. You’ll notice that there seems to be a theme to most of my posts. Plus, a nice birthday bonus after the jump.

Oops!
(1) Meiendorfer SV women’s team
seeks sexy kit sponsor. I found this one before any other English language blog or newspaper did and I was able to use my dormant German language skills.
(2) Eva Roob’s boobs. A former pro soccer player turned stripper? Quintessential UF story. My second most successful post in terms of driving traffic. Again, I found this one using my German skillz.
(3) Van Nistlerooy in MSPaint. I explained the controversial offside no-call in the Italy-Netherlands Euro group play…in MSPaint. It took me two hours to do those awful renderings. But, it was great fun.
(4) Interviews. I only liked the way three of the interviews turned out. So thanks, Rob Stone, Greg Lalas and Mike Quarino.
(5) Nereida Gallardo. Not the greatest story, but by far my most visited post. Although, there were nice pics.

Angelo Ogbonna, a defender for Serie A club Turin, managed to
survive a car crash this past weekend. The Nigerian lost control of his Smart Car and drove off a bridge into a rushing river.
Thankfully, Ogbonna escaped without serious injury. I imagine his car was not so fortunate.

Get used to this sight Seattle.
Freddie Ljungberg, underwear model extraordinaire, is the Seattle Sounders designated player signing. Undoubtedly, he will prove to be a sage acquisition that will help the Sounders reach above the depths of last place in its inaugural season. He will provide star power, skill and will be an ever-present. Or maybe not.
Ljungberg just went under the knife for a torn labrum and will be out 10-12 weeks. How did Ljungberg get this injury? I don’t know. But, I do know he hasn’t played since Euro ‘08. His former club West Ham bought him out prior to the start of the EPL (Suck it Barclay’s) season.
If you recall another underwear model designated player signing started off his MLS career injury plagued. How’s that one turned out?
Maybe Ljungberg is angling to get a loan deal with Sampdoria.

As you know, Big Sam Allardyce is filling in for the deposed Governor Paul Ince at Blackburn. This isn’t news. But, the British rags can’t quite agree about what role Roque Santa Claus Cruz will play in the new administration. Two newspapers will duke it out in the cage, but only one will come out.
The Daily Mail claims that Big Sam is going to sell the Santa man for 20 million quid likely to the new oilmen in Manchester.
However, The Sun claims Big Sam only agreed to take the job if they agreed not to sell the Paraguayan strike.
So, who’s correct? I don’t know, but I can’t imagine Santa Cruz wants to stay on at a sinking ship. We shall know, however, no later than the end of January.

I don’t know what Mirko Vucinic is playing at but, I do think he might be angling to be the next Freddy Ljungberg or David Beckham. Vucinic hit the gamewinner for Roma against Cagliari at the death this weekend. After scoring, Vucinic channeled his inner “Frank the Tank” stripping off his uni and shorts racing towards the quad.
Although, for some reason Vucinic was wearing a second uni, but no second set of shorts. Of note, check out Francesco Totti’s beauty of a goal as well.
See all the tighty whitey splendor in the video below.
