The Manchester United idol was accused of trying to break Tiago Silva’s leg as Portugal crashed 6-2 in Brasilia on Wednesday.
Silva stormed: “He’s a malicious guy and if I hadn’t jumped out of the way he would have broken my leg.”
Fluminense defender Silva, linked with a move to Chelsea in January, added: “He just lost it because we snuffed him totally out of the game.
“He had the nerve to say he didn’t touch me but that’s only because I got out of his way.
“Then he realised he was in the wrong and tried to apologise but I wasn’t accepting that.”
Real Madrid ace Marcelo said: “Ronaldo was out of order and a bigmouth. He elbowed me off the ball, then tried to have a shouting match about it.”

United’s new third kit has been inspired by the success of 1968, when the Reds wore blue while becoming the first English team to lift the European Cup.
To celebrate the 40-year anniversary of the momentous night, Nike has created a kit worthy of that great team and their famous 4-1 win over Benfica at Wembley. United will therefore wear blue as their third kit for the 2008/09 campaign and as the preferred kit for this season’s Champions League away matches.
The new blue shirt includes a number of details that celebrate the anniversary including the embroidery of the words ‘May 29th 1968′ and ‘40th Year Anniversary’ around the crest.
The kit uses Nike Fit fabric technology, first used by Nike in national team kits worn by Nike-sponsored teams in the 2006 World Cup. This technology is designed to enhance player performance by wicking sweat through the material and away from the skin. A full mesh back on the player’s jerseys also aids ventilation.
United defender Rio Ferdinand said: “When you look at the final image you will associate it with the great team of 1968 with the likes of George Best and Bobby Charlton.
“Obviously they won the European Cup in blue so we hope we can walk in their shoes again with this kit. It’s such a big part of the history of the club.”
The new third kit will be unveiled on ManUtd.com this Thursday 28 August, when you’ll be able to place pre-orders in our online Megastore. We’ll also reveal the winner of our competition to win a shirt signed by Sir Bobby Charlton and Ryan Giggs.

Denis Irwin lived through the agony and ecstacy of United’s previous three final day decider’s in the Premier League. He was successful twice, and now he’s backing the Reds to clinch victory over his old team-mate Steve Bruce…
You’ve been involved in some last day dramas, what’s it like?
It’s nerve-racking when it goes right to the wire. Everyone remembers the draw against West Ham in ‘95 where we ended up missing out on the title. It’s slightly different this year because, back then, it wasn’t in our own hands. But when we heard that Blackburn had lost, a draw for us was soul-destroying.
But United have had success in final day deciders…
Yes, we’ve gone to Middlesbrough and won it on the last day in 1996 and beat Spurs to clinch the title in the Treble-winning season in 1999. You’re always happier at home in your own environment. It makes it harder that we’re away this time at Wigan, but we’re more than capable of winning the match.
What would winning the title do for United’s chances in the Champions League?
It would certainly help. I hate to say this, but we’ve been in a winning position for quite a while, so if we don’t win the title it could have a negative effect. If Chelsea win, they’ve kind of come from nowhere. But we’d have taken this situation at the start of the season, now you just want to finish the job.
Do United deserve to win the title?
I believe the best team finishes first. We’ve played some cracking football this year, some top class stuff. I think most neutrals would say we deserve it, but until we win it we can’t claim to be the best team in the league. That’s why we have to go to Wigan and finish the job.
